When planning a wedding it’s important to be aware of what’s hot and what’s not for that season.  As it takes the average couple twelve months to plan the perfect wedding, it seems only fitting to glide straight over 2013 and into 2014 to give you a heads up on the most popular wedding trends 2014.

Royalty

On 29th April 2011 the whole world stopped to witness the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Even though their big day was well over two years ago the royal wedding fever is still going strong and many people want their big day to be just as much a fairy tale as it was for the nation’s most loved couple. Although, unless you really do marry a prince, getting married at Westminster Abbey is going to be pretty unlikely there’s no reason why you shouldn’t feel like royalty on your big day which is why there are plenty of ways that you can incorporate a royal theme into your wedding.

The Great Gatsby

The idea of a vintage wedding has always been popular but since the release of The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, earlier this year the popularity of the 1920s style wedding has soared. The glamour of the Gatsby era shouldn’t be confined to the screen though as it’s a style that you can be sure will never go out of fashion – it’s still extremely popular 90 years on. The great thing about this style is the fact that it doesn’t have to cost a lot but it always looks a million dollars so there’s never any danger of your big day looking tacky.

Eco-friendly weddings

Saving the environment is something that’s at the top of many people’s list of priorities nowadays and it’s a great thing to carry through to your wedding. Having an eco-friendly wedding doesn’t mean you need to go back to basics and resort to a dress made out of plastic milk bottles or refusing your favourite venue because they don’t have environmentally friendly low-flush toilets. Choosing an environmentally friendly wedding doesn’t have to be a budget breaker either because there are plenty of ways that you can choose the environmentally friendly option whilst sticking to your budget. For example, there are thousands of acres of trees cut down every year to make all kinds of paper products, including wedding invitations and place settings. There are plenty of places where you can get hold of recycled stationery that’s been made from recycled paper and cardboard products.

There are so many options out there when it comes to choosing a theme for your wedding day, and although you should be aware of the season’s trends you should also make sure your wedding shows off your beliefs, interests and personality.
